So there we all were in lockdown . . . remember that . . . and it was the first time we had so much time off in one large helping . . . PAID time off! Well, the health consequences were, by and large out of our hands . . . I just did was I was told . . . but I did talk the opportunity to do something I had always wanted to do . . . record some tunes . . . make some of my own music . . . but first I had to learn how to do it.

So I decided to stick with the Apple recording software ‘Logic Pro’ and off I went . . . as the hippies would say . . . ‘man that was a trip!’ fast forward about four months . . . having made every possible mistake and finally seeing the fog clear enough to see a way forward, I told myself to keep putting one foot in front of the other and I would get there.

That’s a bit of an unfortunate metaphor . . . because during COVID I was being assessed for Parkinson’s and was finally diagnosed with it in November 2021 . . . but that’s another story . . . what it meant to me at the time was I was going to be spending a lot of time making music.

So I made a project of this song . . . the music is a piece called ‘Judex’ by French composer Charles Gounod from an Oratorio called Mors et Vita (1884) and I always thought it would make a beautiful song. So I recorded myself playing piano and roughing out a lyric, then I used the Airgigs.com site to source a tenor and someone to do the orchestration . . . then I realised . . . it wants to be a duet . .. and I found Caroline Joy and her beautiful voice . . . put it all together got my offspring to contribute where they could with backing vocals, guitars, and here you are . . . I hope you like it.
